The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, flagged off the construction of 9.8 kilometre Kabusa – Takushara access road with the call on the contractor to heed to the guidelines.
He said construction of roads in communities was part of the promises Tinubu made to the people.
According to him, better roads will help in curbing insecurity across the territory, and provide route for farmers to bring out their produce to the market.
Wike also decried the present position of the Government Secondary School, Kabusa which he said was below the acceptable standard.
He directed the procurement department to immediately commence the process of upgrading the school to the required standard.
The minister vowed to continue with the provision of necessary infrastructure that will always remind the people of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda initiative
Wike said, “The government is committed to fulfilling its promises, and one of those promises is to construct roads and provide streetlights in rural areas. I assure you that this project will be completed within six to seven months.
” I will not accept this school in its current state. I will not accept this as a place for our children to receive quality education. We must upgrade this school immediately so that it can provide the education our children deserve.
” I’m sure that if Mr. President were to visit this school, he would be disappointed. Our children are learning in difficult conditions, and it’s our responsibility to provide them with a better environment.
“We must put this school back on track. We owe it to our children to provide them with the best possible education”
Wike advised the residents not to listen to propaganda from desperate individuals but believe in the current administration for it’s programmes for the people.
“Don’t listen to people who have never come to visit you before. Don’t listen to people who bring propaganda and false promises. Listen to people who have made promises and fulfilled them”
