Northern leaders tasked on dev’t

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi, Abuja

The Advocate for Better Leadership and Sustainable Rural Development Initiative (ABLE) has called on Northern leaders to unite and drive the development of the region. Director General of ABLE, Comrade Destiny Madu, made the call in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

According to Madu, it is time for Northern leaders to come together and take charge of their destiny in order to restore the region’s lost glory. “The time has come that we must tell ourselves the truth. Once upon a time, the North that now looks like a burden to the whole nation was the pride of the nation,” he said.

Madu’s statement, titled, “A Call to Northern Leaders of Thought, Political Leaders, Business Tycoons, and All Good-Meaning Nigerians of Northern Extraction,” emphasized the need for Northerners to take ownership of their development.

This call to action is particularly significant, given the region’s potential for economic growth and development. As noted in a report by the UK FCDO, the North has the potential to be a powerful engine of economic growth, with programs like LINKS aiming to raise the incomes of at least three million people in the region.

The ABLE’s call to action is a timely reminder that the development of the North requires collective effort and leadership from its people. As Madu emphasized, it is time for Northerners to take their destiny in their hands and work towards restoring the region’s lost glory.
