Institute of Town Planners decries attack on officials of FCTA

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has decried attack and harassment of officials of the Department of Development Control, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) by some individuals in the territory.

Some officers of the department were recently attacked during their legitimate duties at Lugbe.

President of the Institute, Dr Chime Ogbonna condemned the incident on Monday, when he led a delegation to the Department of Development Control at Abuja Metropolitan Management Council headquarters to commiserate with the Director, Mukhtar Galadima with the staff.

Ogbonna emphasized that the Institute will not tolerate such actions without taking recourse, warning against future occurrences and assuring that perpetrators will face full wrath of the law.

Responding, Director of the department, Galadima Muktar thanked the Institute for their support and assured that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is investigating the matter with utmost attention, ensuring justice is served.

He said, “This incident highlights concerns about the safety and well-being of Development Control staff and underscores the need for respect and protection of professionals carrying out their statutory duties” Galadima said.
