The crisis in the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new dimension on Wednesday as thugs physically manhandled the former National Youth leader of the Party, Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye during a meeting of the party’s Board of Trustee (BoT).
Recall that Ude-Okoye was appointed by the South-East stakeholders to take over from Sen. Sam Anyanwu as National Secretary of the party after he (Anyanwu) secured the ticket of the party to contest the Imo State governorship election.
Ude-Okoye further got a court order from an Appeal Court in Enugu, affirming him as the National Secretary of the party.
However, the party’s National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu got a stay of execution order and later appealed the judgment at the Supreme Court.
However, while Ude-Okoye was seated after the opening ceremony of the BoT meeting, as journalists and non-BoT members were going out, an aide to the National Secretary, slapped and physically manhandled him while he was seated.
The aide had earlier, slapped a journalist covering the PDP when Ude-Okoye visited the secretariat while the party was still on New year holidays.
Details coming.
