Kano Conducts Sanitation 8am To 10am  Friday

…No Restriction Of Movement Within The Period

Kano State Government has concluded plans to conduct monthly sanitation exercise from 8am to 10am,  Friday,  February 24, 2023.

According to a Statement signed by Ismail Garba Gwammaja, Director, Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Environment, “preparations have been concluded  for successful conduct of February sanitation exercise in Kano state.”

The Statement further stated that: “Kano state Ministry of Environment is ready to conduct February general sanitation exercise on Friday the 24th February 2023, from 8am to 10am within Kano state.”

The Statement urged Kano residents to remain law abiding citizens so as to ensure total compliance of the directive to sanitize their environment regularly.

The statement quoted the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, as saying that,  “the usual end of month Saturday sanitation exercise has been harmonized to commence only on Friday the 24th February 2023, since Saturday, 25th February  coincided with the Presidential and National Assembly general elections across the country.”

The Statement also pointed out that, “no restrictions of people movement during this period, people are free to go about their normal businesses.

“However, they are enjoined to do the needful by ensuring to clean up their environment and de- silt their drainages where necessary to allow free-flow of gutters and other unwanted waste material.”

The Commissioner, also lauded people in the state for their unflinching support and cooperation,  “especially to issues affecting the environment and hopes that the trend would be maintained to ensure free and safe environment devoid of waste, and by extension, healthy society.”
