Breaking: Jubilation Erupts in Kaduna as Uba Sani Intervenes to Restore Electricity

After five days of total blackout, electricity has been fully restored across Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states, sparking celebrations as Governor Uba Sani’s intervention ended the strike by Kaduna Electric workers.

The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) had shut down operations on February 3, 2025, protesting the alleged plan for disengagement of 900 staff. The strike crippled businesses and daily activities, leaving millions in darkness.

Governor Sani, disturbed by the hardship, convened an emergency meeting with the union and Kaduna Electric management at the Government House on Friday night. Following intense negotiations, the union agreed to suspend the strike, and power supply was immediately restored.

As part of the agreement, Kaduna Electric has reportedly paused the planned layoffs pending further discussions. The company had earlier clarified that only 450 workers were affected, citing financial and operational challenges.

Residents, who endured days without power, hailed the governor’s swift intervention, describing it as a major relief.
