Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, has been honored with the “Responsive Representation for Good Governance Award” by the Senate Press Corps (SPC). This prestigious award recognizes Senator Abiru’s outstanding contributions to good governance and responsive representation of the people of Lagos East Senatorial District ¹.
According to Mr. Taiye Odewale, Chairman of the SPC, Senator Abiru’s legislative inputs in the Senate have contributed significantly to good governance-driven legislations at the federal level. His responsive representation has also had a positive impact on human, capital, and community development in Lagos East Senatorial District.
Senator Abiru’s achievements are a testament to his commitment to serving his constituents. Since assuming office in December 2020, he has implemented various empowerment programs, including the Senator Abiru Annual Bursary Award, which supports indigent but brilliant students in Lagos state-based tertiary institutions.
In his remarks after receiving the award, Senator Abiru dedicated it to his entire staff in Abuja and Lagos East Senatorial District. He expressed his gratitude to the SPC and acknowledged that the award motivates him to do more for his constituents and Nigeria as a whole.
“I’m motivated by this award to do more for my constituents in Lagos East as their Senator and to Nigeria, by adding the required value to the Senate at all times, for good lawmaking and good governance,” Senator Abiru said.
