The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has asked for the support of China in areas of education and youth development in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
He made the request on Tuesday, when the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai paid him a courtesy call.
Wike said youth and vocational training remain key areas in deepening development at all levels.
He told the envoy that FCT Administration was committed to providing the necessary environment for businesses to drive.
The minister also requested for partnership in agriculture and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Wike said, “I would like us to also partner in terms of agriculture. It’s very key. We have very good land for whatever kind of farm. So it would interest us more if we can partner on that. And then the vocational school, particularly as it relates to ICT.
“If we must move forward, education is key and youth also, so these are two areas I would like us to cooperate, partner together, and see what we can do to be a symbiotic relationship”
In his remarks, the Chinese envoy to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai explained that China was moving forward to achieving its national rejuvenation through the Chinese way of modernization.
He said Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu was pulling well through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dunhai explained that,”We have seen the improvement of infrastructure, a lot of new roads have been built, and particularly my colleague told me in the past there are a lot of roads that become suddenly abrupt, but under the leadership Wike that you have got all those roads connected.
“So as the new Chinese Ambassador, I came at a very important juncture because China, we are moving forward to materialize the national rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through the Chinese way of modernization”
