Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has categorically denied reports claiming she apologized to the Nigerian Senate over her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio ¹ ² ³. In a statement released on Monday, March 24, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the reports as “false and misleading,” reaffirming her commitment to seeking justice and accountability.
The senator emphasized that her allegations against Akpabio were not made lightly and that she will continue to fight for the rights of Nigerian women, ensuring their voices are heard ¹. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension from the Senate has been deemed a “clear case of political victimisation” by the senator herself.
Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the public to disregard the reports of her supposed apology, stating that she stands firm in her resolve to never apologize for speaking her truth ³. The senator’s denial comes amidst calls from some residents of Kogi Central Senatorial District for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin the process of recalling her.
