The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Christopher Maikàlangu has called on the Muslims to do more for promotion of peace and unity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This is contained in Maikàlangu’s 2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebration message he personally signed on Sunday .
Maikalangu explained that the period of Ramadan fasting is a time when Muslims reflect with the wisdom that comes with faith and the responsibilities that human beings have to one another and to Allah.
According to him, it is also a time of intent devotion, where they fast during the day and pray at night with expectation for divine answers, that on behalf of management of AMAC, he is extending best wishes to entire Muslims in Nigeria.
“Ramadan is the month that Muslims believe that the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammed. This process reminds us about what we have in common as human beings and the general moves to a unite Nigeria, because, fasting is a concept shared by many faiths, including the Christian faith.
“It is a way to bring people closer to God. This is a period that everyone must remember that the world we want to build and the changes that we want to make must begin in our hearts and communities,” he said.
Maikalangu reinstated his readiness to embrace a resolution that will restore a peaceful atmosphere for the people’s sake and to also retain, as well as maintain the sovereignty of the Federal Capital Territory and the country at large.
“In the light of Sallah celebration, I wish to spread the message of love, peace and unity amongst all citizens and residents of Abuja Municipal Area Council and the country at large.
“Peace is a tool of harmony and development, which leads to multiple opportunities in our daily lives. So, I urge us all to imbibe this culture to move forward,” he said.
Maikalangu also said that in this challenging times, Nigerians must first remember to put the nation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike FCT, in prayers for them to succeed in delivering dividends of democracy to Nigerians who voted them into power.
“We should understand that we are all committed to keeping our responsibility to build a Nigeria that is more peaceful and secured, that is why we are urging Muslims to use this period to pray for peace and unity amongst Nigerians, irrespective of their religious affiliation,” he said.
