Senate President Godswill Akpabio has strongly condemned in its entirety, the brutal murder of 16 travelers in Edo State, describing it as a “senseless act of violence” that is unacceptable and has no place in Nigerian society.

In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Senator Akpabio expressed his deep sadness and disturbance over the gruesome killings. He emphasized that the perpetrators must be brought to justice, urging the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and hold them accountable for their actions.

The Senate President also stressed the importance of promoting peace, unity, and understanding among Nigerians, warning that such acts of violence should not be allowed to divide the country or undermine its stability.

This condemnation comes amid widespread outrage over the killings, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also condemning the act as “dastardly” and ordering a swift probe into the incident. Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has also visited the families of the victims, pledging to assist them and ensure that justice is served.
