Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has described the inaugural “Made in Benue Products Exhibition” as a persuasive statement about the modernization and industriousness of local entrepreneurs.
Gov. Alia who was speaking at the IBB Square Makurdi, venue of the exhibition on Wednesday said the event marks a considerable breakthrough in the state’s journey towards economic rejuvenation and industrial advancement.
“This exhibition brings our entrepreneurs productions to public glare, unmasking them to sponsors, investors and to the larger market”, the governor said.
The Governor said, “I recognized the enormous challenges my administration inherited. There were many years of negligence and infrastructural decomposition, but i affirmed the responsibility to resuscitate moribund industries and foster new ones”.
He pointing out that, the successes of initiatives like the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), which spearheaded the establishment of mini-industries, is now yielding good results jobs creation and minimises dependency on external markets.
The Governor who called on the Federal government and corporate bodies to invest in local enterprises to empower communities and foster self-reliance said, entrepreneurs in the State can enthusiastically compete in any market in the world.
On display at the exhibition are products crafted primarily from local raw materials, embodying the potential for Benue to build a self-satisfactory industrial base given the right support.
