Achado commiserates with Gwer-West stakeholders, constituents

Member representing Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Arc. (Dr.) Asema Achado, FNIA, KSJI, has expressed deep sadness over the continued loss of lives, the result of sustained armed herdsmen attacks on the people of the local government.

Arc. Achado who was on a constituency and sympathy visit to the people of Gwer West over the recent loss of lives and destruction of properties in parts of the local government and Naka, the local government headquarters reiterated his determination to continue to take legislative measures to end the over a decade attacks on the people.

He held a closed-door meeting with the Ter Tyoshin, HRH Chief Daniel Ayua Abomtse, and other traditional rulers, where he commiserated with them, particularly with the Ter Tyoshin, whose palace and personal properties were destroyed during a recent protest. He equally visited all the burnt sites and sympathized with affected leaders including Senator Dr. Titus Zam, Chief Peter Ormin (Mue Ter-Raav), and Engr. Felix Atume.

The visit was marked by a thanksgiving Mass at St. James Quasi Parish, Naka, where Rev. Fr. Aondondura Paul VC urged the faithful to seek divine intervention in the adversity they are facing. Dr. Achado donated to the church’s 2024/25 bazaar project.

The Rep. also met with and was briefed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the modern Gwer West Divisional Police Station and Rank & File Quarters he constructed as well as the Gwer West Local Government Secretariat which was also touched during the protest in Naka.

Arc. Achado inspected an ongoing constituency electrification project at Tse-Alaigu, Naka, where the community leader, elder Gboko Gwabo commended him for the laudable project and continued interventions in their community.

In a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Achado highlighted his legislative achievements, including amongst others, the employment of 11 constituents(graduates) from Gwer West into Federal Service, sponsorship of Motions on the floor of the National Assembly for the deployment of Security architecture to end the killings and displacement of Gwer East/Gwer West farmers by terrorist herders who have annexed lands, homes, and graze on the people’s crops, killing in cold blood those who resist etc.

At the site of the Naka Earth Dam, Arc. Achado pledged to work with the relevant authorities towards ensuring access to clean water.

The visit ended with a humanitarian outreach to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, where he donated some financial support and assured the people living in the camps of his continued efforts to ensure that lasting peace is restored through multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement.

While addressing the Youths and other Constituents, Arc. Dr. Achado sued for trust, unity, peace, and understanding from them, stressing the need for collective effort to overcome the challenges facing the local government.
