Ododo pledges collaboration with media, lauds journalists’ role in governance

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep appreciation for media professionals, acknowledging their vital contribution to fostering transparency and informing the public about government initiatives.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade, Governor Ododo made the remarks during the formal unveiling of the state’s inaugural Annual Media Performance Report in Lokoja.

A statement issued by Government House Media Team, said the governor lauded the report as a significant milestone that reflects the administration’s dedication to transparency and inclusive governance. According to him, communication goes beyond the frequency of media coverage — it is the accuracy, tone, and overall impact of information that truly matter.

The Governor called on journalists and media stakeholders to continue upholding the principles of fairness and objectivity in their work, noting that his administration does not endorse sensationalism but prioritizes honest representation of its efforts.

He commended the collaborative work behind the production of the report, particularly highlighting the leadership of the Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, and his team. Ododo said the initiative exemplifies the administration’s core values of collaboration and clear communication.

Governor Ododo also reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to foster direct engagement with the media, recognizing the press as a crucial partner in building trust and shaping public opinion.

In his remarks, Hon. Ismaila Isah, who also hosted the event, described the report as more than a review of past efforts. He positioned it as a strategic guide for enhancing future communication and outreach.

Isah thanked the Governor for his consistent support and called for sustained cooperation between the media and government in order to bolster public confidence and accelerate development in the state.

Also speaking at the event, Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone D and General Manager of Prime FM Lokoja, Momoh Jimoh Adeiza, commended the state for initiating the report. He urged the government to scale up support for the media sector to enable journalists to better carry out their responsibilities in the interest of Kogi’s progress.
