Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano has continued to garner support ahead the 2023 election as the coalition of youths and students associations in the state have endorsed him.
Chairman of the Coalition, Comrade Najmudeen Mukhtar, who spoke during ä colourful event at the Water Falls Event Centre in Kano, hinted that the Coalition comprises of youths and students associations across the 44 Local Government Areas in the state drawn from tertiary institutions, among other formations.
He explained that their purpose of the endorsement was as ä result of the sterling performance of Gawuna in all leadership positions He has held right from his days as Chairman of Nassarrawa Local Government Area.
He described the APC governorship candidate as ä performer who has garnered enough experinece to take Kano state to the next level.
According to him, Gawuna who is also the Deputy Governor of the State is mosr qualified for the position of the Governor of Kano State.
“He said: “On behalf of the entire Kano State youths and students, we are hereby endorsing your candidature (Gawuna), the gubernatorial candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This is due to the confidence we have in you as an exemplary leader who dedicated his entire life for developmental service to humanity through youth empowerment and capacity building for the both youths and students. Your ticket is, indeed, the best for a better Kano.
“Gawuna is a well liked and acceptable person to the people of Kano State having been tested and trusted. He towers above other governorship candidates because of his pedigree, humility and vast experience in governance.
“The youths and students knows his antecedents having seen evidence of political experience and his contribution towards their progress.
“The APC candidate has demonstrated that he possessed competence and capacity to govern a big State like Kano effectively. That is why we are supporting him to be the next governor of Kano State.
“We are, therefore, assuring you that we will mobilise youths and students to vote for you.”
Gawuna, In his response, rhanked the youths and students for reposing confidence in him and promised never to disappoint then.
He assured them that himself and his runningmate, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, will take very seriuosly the welfare and development of youths and students when elected into office.
“I want to assure you that my administration will continue to be youth friendly with a lot of programmes to better your tomorrow,” he added.
Gawuna who described the youths and students as future leaders of the state and the country, enjoined them to continue to be hardworking, respectful and denounce violence during elections.
In his remarks, the State APC Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas Sunusi, urged the youths to lend their full support to the victory of all APC candidates during the election.
Also speaking, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives who is representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, Honourable Alhassan Ado Doguwa, tasked the youths and students on the need to protect their votes and desist from all forms of thuggery and electoral malpractices.
The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, who is also the Spokesman of the Gawuna-Garo Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Malam Muhammad Garba, reminded the youths that the APC government has done a lot for the development of youths and education in the state.
He furrher stated that, “the present APC Government in the State which Gawuna and Garo were, and are still part of, is the one that completed the payment of outstanding students’ fees inherited from the previous administration and still went on to provide infrastructures in the tertiary institutions across the State.”
According to him, the gubernatorial ticket of Nasiru Gawuna and Murtala Garo possessed what it takes to continue the giant strides and uncommon achievements being recorded in Kano under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.
Among those who attendend the event were Commissioners, lawmakers, party stalwats, including Kano Municipal Local Government Chairman, Honourable Fa’izu Alfindiki who doubles as the Chairman, Youths/Students Committee in the Gawuna-Garo Gubernatorial Campaign Council.
Hundreds of youths and students group leaders from across the 44 Local Government Arears of the State also graced the occassion.
