The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, has said contractors handling various projects in the territory have been living up to expectations.
He said the FCT Administration was also making adequate provision of funds for the contractors to deliver in time.
Wike stated this on Monday, after inspecting some of the ongoing projects at the verge of completion in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The minister said his administration was committed to ensuring that projects listed for inauguration during President Tinubu’s second year anniversary are completed.
He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing transformation of the International Conference Centre and major road networks such as those in Gishiri and the assess roads to the Justices’ Quarters.
“We are very impressed with what we have seen and what is scheduled. The contractors are living up to expectations, and we are doing our part by ensuring prompt payments to avoid any delays.
“So the quality of jobs seems quite impressive.I am also happy with the National Conference Center.
“Those of you who knew how it was and see what it is today will be impressed that yes, that conference center is coming back to what itb is supposed to be”.
Wike also revealed that the FCT statutory budget for 2025 has been submitted to the National Assembly and will be formally presented on April 29.
He explained that 95% of the 2024 budget had been implemented, saying the ongoing projects fall under the extended 2024 budget till June.
“We are operating within the law. The remaining part of the 2024 budget will be used to pay the contractors,” said Wike.
He revealed that ICC will be ready by May this year, Julius Berger’s site manager, Mr. Oliver said that tiling and carpeting works are progressing well, with night shifts introduced to fast-track completion.
Wike further assured residents of the FCT and Nigerians that his administration remain focused on delivering quality infrastructure that would improve aesthetic of Abuja and living standards of residents.
