By Pwanagba Agabus, Jos

Following the recent killings in Irigwe chiefdom of Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reassured residents that his administration is more determined than ever to make sure that no innocent blood is shed on the in the State.

Mutfwang stated this Tuesday when he visited the two communities in Kwall District of Bassa LGA (Kimakpa and Zike), where over 50 people were killed on Sunday night as a result of an attack by assailants.

He said, “We are here to pay respect to our fallen ones, who came under the firepower of terrorists murderers.

“The whole nation and the international community is mourning with you.

“Myself, all the security chiefs and members of the State executive council share in your pain.

According to him, “Since coming onboard, I have pursued an agenda of peace on the Plateau; because I have realised that all these years, we have been cheated and remained in poverty “, he decried.

Speaking on the road network in the area, Mutfwang said, “If not because of the years of insurgency and terrorism that have deprived us of the riches of the land, there is no reason our roads should be the way they are “, the governor maintained.

“And I want to assure you that by the grace of God, we are determined more than ever to make sure that no innocent blood is shed on the Plateau”, he assured.

“Let me further assure you that all innocent blood that has been shed will not go in vein.

“I’m here with all the security chiefs in the State to reassure you that we are ever committed.

“I know that you have reason not to be happy with some of the operations in the past, but I want you to know, whatever lapses there are, we have taken decisions to correct them.

“We are going to make sure that we provide all the necessary surveillance that we need to provide.

“But let me remind you that, whatever arrangement security agencies do, it is only part of the solution; the solution must come from the community.

“We have come to a point in time in Nigeria, where every community must make arrangements to defend itself; there is no shying away from this.

Mutfwang said, he will never encourage lawlessness, “but we can no longer afford that we all go to sleep at the same time. Our young people must rise to the occasion.

“What I know is that, it is God that gave Irigwe people this land and no one will take it from them”, he stressed.

Responding, the paramount ruler of Irigwe chiefdom and acting chairman Bassa LGA Traditional Council, Brra Ngwe Irigwe, Ronku Aka, thanked the governor for the visit.

“Your coming here today has strengthen us.

He appeal to the governor to fix the roads in the chiefdom, “We know you have started fixing some of our roads, but we are appealing for more, especially in communities like this”.
