Easter: Ex-ALGON President, Alabi prays for victims of Plateau, Benue killings, felicitates with Lagos people

A former President of the Association of Local governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon David Kolade Alabi has condoled with victims of the recent killings in Plateau and Benue states on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.

He also felicitated with the Governor of Lagos state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the people of the state as they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In his message, Alabi who is now the Chairman of Conference 57 lamented the killings in the middle belt states.

Said he, ” As the Easter season brings hope and joy to millions, I, Hon. Alabi Kolade David, former National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Conference 57, extend my heartfelt Easter greetings to His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the people of Lagos State.

“On this sacred day, my heart goes out to the families of those who have lost loved ones to senseless violence in Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Enugu, Kaduna, and other parts of Nigeria. The cries of the bereaved echo around the states, and I join my voice to theirs, calling for peace and support for Christian “martyrs” and all victims of avoidable violence.

“I condemn the barbarous bloodshed in the strongest terms and pray for a speedy resolution to these issues, paving the way for growth, peace, and development and allow the Renewal Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR flourish.

“As someone who has worked closely with local governments, I am deeply concerned about the impact of these violent incidents on our communities. Innocent lives are lost, and the very fabric of our society is threatened.

“I urge our security agencies to intensify efforts to end these unwarranted killings and restore peace to our beloved nation. Community Policing alongside support of the communities through intelligence gathering across LGAs and Councils are hereby prayed.”

Alabi speaking Easter said: “The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a powerful reminder of the triumph of good over evil. As Christians, we are reminded that the Risen Christ remains ever-present in our lives, offering protection and guidance.

“I urge everyone to promote love, kindness, and generosity, rather than violence and brutality. Let us strive to create a society where life is valued, and every individual can live in peace and harmony.

“The story of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection inspires us to stand against injustice and fight for peace.

The killing of innocent people is unacceptable and must be condemned by all. I believe that because of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, the cruel are overcome, evil is defeated, and martyrs are conquered.

“May this Easter season bring hope, peace, and joy to all. May the resurrection power of Jesus Christ transform our lives and communities, and may we emerge stronger and more united in our pursuit of peace, love, and prosperity,” he concluded.
