NSCDC presents practicing licenses to private security companies

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has presented practicing licenses to 50 private security companies in Abuja. Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi emphasized the importance of prompt intelligence gathering and adherence to core ethical standards, according a press statement from CSC Afolabi Babawale, the Public Relations Officer, NSCDC National Headquarters Abuja on Wednesday.

The NSCDC received over 200 applications and conducted thorough screenings, with only 50 companies meeting the requisite conditions. Dr. Audi commended Minister of Interior Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for his efforts in reforming the security sector.

The private security industry has provided approximately four million employment opportunities for youths and complements conventional security agencies. Dr. Audi called for continued collaboration between the NSCDC and private security companies to enhance national security.

The NSCDC emphasized the importance of adhering to core ethical standards, including care and welfare of security guards, timely renewal of operational licenses, and recruitment of qualified personnel.

The event featured a lecture on strengthening public-private partnerships for national security and goodwill messages from industry stakeholders.

The NSCDC presented licenses to new companies, symbolizing a significant step in regulating the private security industry.
