From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Against the backdrop of political pundits and analyst in Imo State, saying that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has made a U-turn on his abinitio stand on the State Charter of Equity and his successor, ahead of 2027 gubernatorial election in the State, following his recent statement of handing power to any person he is convinced that would sustain his administration’s legacies, Captain Emmanuel Iheanacho, says the Governor never contradicted himself against the zone that would produce his successor.

Iheanacho who was 2019 APGA governorship candidate in the State said this in his ancestral compound at Ezeogba Emekuku in Owerri North LGA of Imo State while speaking to Journalists on his involvement with Imo Harmony Project, an organization in the forefront of Owerri Senatorial Zone son or daughter extraction succeeding Governor Hope Uzodimma in 2027.

The political icon noted that he won the 2019 governorship election despite INEC saying otherwise, however he described himself as an ambassador of equity, fairness and natural justice.

He pointed out that the State is built on tripartite pact of Senatorial Zones, and regrettably one zon, that’s Orlu Senatorial Zone have ruled the State for 24 years, Okigwe zone has been there for 9 years while Owerri zone has only been there for only 15 months.

” Honestly, this is gross injustice before God and man and the Imo Charter of Equity has been instituted to solved the problem and some people just want to truncate it, because of percuinary interest.

“Owerri zone is over saturated for people eminently qualified to rule the State. It’s imperative for the right thing to be done and as responsible people by coming into agreement that in 2027, Owerri man or woman should occupy the Government House, that’s equity and natural justice.

” In all intacts and purposes, Governor Hope Uzodimma did not make any statement that contradicted his abinitio stand. He has said it point blank that he would handover to Owerri man, he justified this by endorsing the State Charter of Equity and allowing the State Assembly to endorse same.

“Even when he was subjected into undue pressure, he obviously said that he’s going to hand over to somebody who will protect his administration’s legacies, no matter where the person may come from, thus he never contradicted himself but rather he only re-enforced his stand on equity, knowing too well that Owerri zone has all it takes, including quality and visionary leaders”.
