A Socio-cultural group, Ideato Peoples Assembly (IPA) based in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, comprising indigenes of Ideato Nation has condemned in the strongest term, the recent mass massacre of innocent citizens of three communities of Imo state.
Ideato Nation is made up of Ideato North and Ideato South LGAs which constitute the Ideato Federal Constituency.
The affected 3 communities are: Ndiejezie and Ndiakunwanta in Arondizuogu and Umualaoma autonomous community).
In a statement signed by Vin Igwilo,
President and Tochi Maduba Ejiofor,
Secretary General, the Assembly said: “After the meeting that was summoned to access the events of 24th July, 2025 at IDEATO NORTH, vehemently condemned in the strongest terms the unprovoked vicious attacks and killings of innocent citizens of Nigeria in three different locations in Ideato North LGA of Imo State (namely): (Ndiejezie in Arondizuogu, Ndiakunwanta in Arondizuogu and Umualaoma).
“The Ideato Peoples Assembly Abuja is strongly concerned about the repeated attacks, resulting in killings and Kidnapping in the Ideato Federal Constituency in recent times; this has resulted in the abandonment of some roads and locations for fear of these killers.
“When a community or area is under attack, the indigene becomes the target and normal community life is punched.
“IPA Abuja offers its deepest condolences to all the families and communities affected by these senseless acts which cannot be justified by any reason and call for greater efforts to protect all the indigene of Ideato Federal Constituency, Orlu senatorial zone and Imo State in general,” the IPA said.
It went further to ” request the Ideato Federal Constituency Representative, Imo North Senator and Governor of our dear state to proffer a lasting solution to this menace.
“Imo State is not known with this type of wickedness, we also demand that perpetuators of this heinous crime are brought to book,” the statement issued today concluded.
IPA is apolitical but aimed at fostering and enhancing the social-cultural welfare, growth and development of Ideato people at home and diaspora, through sustained civil participation and sensitization of the people.
