The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa on Thursday said the Armed Forces Radio is boosting the war against insurgency through community dialogue by addressing social issues, promoting understanding and building empathy.
The CDS stated this at the 10th anniversary of the Armed Forces Radio, in Abuja.
He said the Radio Station has denied terrorists the oxygen of disinformation and misinformation in the fight against terrorism.
Gen. Musa said the station has been a critical instrument of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s non-kinetic operations.
He noted that the military over the past decade, witnessed the power of radio to transform lives, shape public opinion and inspire listeners.
“From a humble beginning to becoming a household name, this station has remained committed to delivering high-quality content, entertainment, education and information to our esteemed listeners.
“We have covered local and international news, promoted cultural heritage, given a platform for voices to be heard and most importantly, provided clarity on the activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“In doing this, the station has satisfactorily denied oxygen to agents of disinformation and misinformation,”General Musa said.
The CDS remarked that the Armed Forces Radio has over the last 10 years, worked very hard to secure a sizeable listeners in the very competitive broadcast environment of the Federal Capital Territory.
“Feedback received from our devoted listeners has consistently pointed to this direction. The Armed Forces of Nigeria Radio has also helped to positively influence local culture through music, indigenous narratives and community engagements.
Similarly, the station fosters community dialogue by addressing social issues, promoting understanding and building empathy,”he said.
The Defense chief assured that the Armed Forces Radio 107.7FM will continue to innovate, expand its reach and deepen impact.
“Our commitment to quality broadcasting, community engagement and listener satisfaction remains unwavering. We will continue to inspire our troops to think of the nation first, just as our listeners will be encouraged to provide information on relevant developments within their localities, through appropriate channels,”he said.
