APC leaders secure  overwhelming endorsement at Obudu Mega Rally

In a powerful show of political solidarity, top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received a massive endorsement from a large crowd of party faithful, community leaders, and political stakeholders at the Obudu Reception and Endorsement Mega Rally on Friday.

The event, held in Obudu, Cross River State, served as a resounding affirmation of support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Prince Bassey Otu, and his deputy, Peter Odey.

Organized by Hon. Agnes A. Atsu, the rally drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including APC State Chairman Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq., Chief of Staff to the Governor Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, and Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Hon. Peter Akpanke.

Their presence, alongside other prominent figures like High Chief Higgins Peter and traditional ruler HRM Utsu Felix Ukudare, underscored the widespread political backing for the party’s leadership.

The charged atmosphere reflected growing momentum for the APC in Cross River, a state increasingly pivotal to the party’s strategic goals in the South-South region.

Speakers at the rally lauded President Tinubu’s bold and decisive actions since his inauguration in May 2023.

His administration’s key reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the recalibration of the foreign exchange system, were highlighted as courageous steps necessary for long-term economic stability.

“The President has shown courage in facing long-standing economic bottlenecks,” one speaker noted, acknowledging that while initial hardships were part of the process, these policies were laying the groundwork for future prosperity.

The rally also spotlighted the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure agenda, with ongoing projects in power, transportation, and housing cited as crucial drivers for national growth.

Vice President Kashim Shettima also received praise for his contributions to national security and his oversight of federal economic diversification programs, with attendees noting his leadership style complements the President’s vision.

At the state level, Governor Prince Bassey Otu’s administration was widely commended for its “People First” mantra.

Since taking office, Otu has launched a series of initiatives focused on rural development, healthcare, education, and tourism.

His efforts to boost small businesses, expand medical outreach, and promote the Obudu Cattle Ranch were described as a blueprint for inclusive governance. Deputy Governor Peter Odey was also recognized for his grassroots engagement and for strengthening governance in the northern senatorial districts.

Hon. Agnes A. Atsu, the convener of the rally, described the event as more than just a political gathering. “This endorsement is about continuity, progress, and recognition of what our leaders are doing,” she declared, emphasizing that the massive turnout was a testament to the public’s trust in the APC’s ability to deliver on its promises.

Analysts view the Obudu rally as a significant step in the APC’s consolidation of power in Cross River. The unified presence of both political elites and traditional rulers sends a clear message of cohesion among key stakeholders. The event also reaffirms the party’s commitment to grassroots politics in Cross River North, a region known for influencing electoral outcomes in the state.
