DIG. Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo fdc. Force Intelligence Department, Member Force Management Team has blazed a progressive trail in policing and since taken his well deserved place in his pantheon of Nigeria Police greats, to the acclaim of all genuinely motivated compatriots, his peers, his superiors and to the lamentations of criminally minded factors of criminality, regression and retrogression.
Perusing his illustrious pedigree and vast intellectual endowments, this amazing personality of history has added value to all the places he was assigned to in the course of his illustrious public service career, specific to crime bursting, apprehending, interrogating all currents in the spectrum of crime and unpatriotic elements out to poach our commonwealth, endanger lives and property, and negatively impact on the tenor of socio political discourse in the polity.
There are many fine police officers who have showcased and exhibited this peculiar patriotic dimension in the discharge of their duties, what has set DIG. Okolo apart is his understanding that for the fight for a crime free society and one devoid of sleaze and financial malfeasance must be predicated on concrete foundations of compassion, social justice, equity and fair play.
The organizing principle of DIG. Okolo is that all Nigerians should be treated with respect, compassion and understanding that no one irrespective of his Status is above the law.
His tenure as Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police left indelible marks on the collective psyche of indigenes and residents, which informs the mixed signals that followed in the wake of his well deserved elevation to the post of Assistant Inspector General in the ICT department of the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
It was a great pity to see him go, given his incalculable inputs in sanitizing the security scenario in Bayelsa State, the consolation was that he was answering a higher call in respect of crime prevention and maintenance of law and order which is his forte.
History and posterity will not erase his meritorious inputs in decisively resolution of contradictions in security handling which hitherto afflicts security coverage, plus his efficacious tenure at the IGP monitoring unit where he sufficed as a lightening rod to his peers and a beacon of pride and dependability to his superiors.
Remarkably, DIG. Okolo has yielded pride of place to no one in the interpretation of governmental perspectives of the administration of Nigerian people and in consonance with the policies and targets devised by the apex leadership of the security apparatuses of Nigeria State.
As the DIG. Force Intelligence Department, he urges officers on police operational readiness as evidenced in his major term of operating procedures, which is simply that officers under his department must be ready at all times to act promptly without warning.
