Hundred of raw talents have been discovered at the maiden edition of the Tiger Street Football Tournament which held at the NewBerries Lounge, Peoples Club by Y-Junction, Okpuno Awka.
The Awka leg of the Tiger Street Football Tournament opened with public trials, drawing dozens of non-professional players.
The competition opened with Round of 16 for the eligible teams, where four teams – Sunday Sparks, Peace Warriors, Peace Dominion and Peace Ambassadors advanced to the semi-finals.
At the quarter-finals, Sunday Sparks walloped Young Stars FC 3–0 while Peace Warriors beat Star Boys FC 2–1, in the other match, Peace Dominion narrowly defeated Super Strikers 1–0, while Peace Ambassadors over-powered Mgbakwu Pillars 2–1 to complete the semi-final lineup.
In the semi-finals, Sunday Sparks faced Peace Warriors, and Peace Dominion take on Peace Ambassadors.
The stakes were so high and mouth watering as the organizers lined up consolation prizes, with ₦5 million reserved for the winning team, ₦3 million for second place, and ₦1 million each for third and fourth place.
The Tiger Street Football Tournament is a fusion of football, performance, culture, which featured Nigerian ace rapper Jeriq alongside Uzor Arukwe, the award-winning actor and live host of the set, “Uncaged Experience.”
Also on ground for the half-time, post-match thrills and frills of the event are energy-music and dance sensational twins and BBN 2025 sensation, Wanni x Handi, DJ Snow, DJ Skyblisz and DJ Kay.y and hypeman energy led by Twix Da JIMs and Slymshady.
The spokesperson and Portfolio Manager of Tiger Premium brands, Maria Shaddeko observed that the Tournament offers more than just a stage for goals and glory of the competition, but provides friendly atmosphere, live entertainment and cultural tourism experiences and fun to the street.
Shaddeko said the Tournament is designed to ignite the fearless, uncaged energy of young, non-professional Nigerians and celebrate their raw unfiltered love for football.
