Mrs. Kunemofa Asu, FCNA, FSM, the Director of Finance and Supply at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been honoured with the Peace International Award for Excellence in Public Service and Financial Management at the 15th Peace Achievers International Award 2025 held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. She was also conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Financial Management in recognition of her outstanding contributions to public service, fiscal governance, and development management.
A distinguished financial strategist with over two decades of transformative work in Nigeria’s public sector, Kunemofa Asu has become one of the nation’s most respected voices in financial management, transparency, and development-driven leadership. Her career is defined by a robust portfolio of professional accomplishments, academic excellence, and global executive training from prestigious institutions including Harvard University, the Metropolitan School of Business and Management (UK), the Lagos Business School, and the International Executive Leadership Programme in Dubai.
Her leadership at the NDDC has strengthened financial systems, promoted sustainable development initiatives, and contributed to inclusive growth across the Niger Delta region. Her recognition among the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons in Africa further underscores her influence and commitment to peace-building, capacity development, and accountability in public finance.
Speaking on the honour, Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe, Project Director of Peace Achievers International, congratulated Asu on her well-deserved award, describing her as “a model of integrity, excellence, and transformational leadership in Nigeria’s public service.” He urged her to remain steadfast in her commitment to transparency and accountability, saying: “This award is a testament to your remarkable dedication to public service.
