The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command has arrested three suspected vandals of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to a press statement from Monica Ojobi, the Public Relations Officer of the Company within the yul
The suspects were apprehended around the National Stadium by the National Hospital, Constitution Avenue, Abuja, while arranging vandalized items to cart them away.
The Tactical Squad of the CNAI department made the arrest during a routine patrol aimed at ensuring safety of residents, security of lives, and protection of infrastructure in the FCT.
The suspects are Abdulsalam Aminu, 25, Mustapha Sale, 26, and Suleiman Sani, 19, all from Ingawa LGA, Katsina state.
Exhibits recovered include road crash barriers of different sizes and a sledgehammer. Investigation is ongoing to determine their culpability.
FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu stated that the command is determined to end vandalism in the FCT, noting that criminals often take advantage of festive seasons.
Odumosu emphasized that government efforts to provide essential infrastructure are being undermined by unscrupulous elements, and this must stop.
The NSCDC will protect critical infrastructure like crash barriers, roads, bridges, and power installations, and won’t relent in efforts to safeguard national assets.
The Commandant warned criminal elements to desist from sabotaging government efforts or face the law, urging FCT residents to provide vital intelligence to help rid the FCT of vandals.
The NSCDC is poised to protect CNAI under its purview, come rain, come shine, Odumosu assured.
