Finally, Mr Peter Obi, a former Anambra state Governor who was the Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, will pursue his political aspiration in 2027 on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This move was finally confirmed on December 31st, 2025 as Mr Peter Obi, made his formal declaration for ADC, at a crowded event of the party hosted for the entire South East zone at Landmark Nike Hotel,Enugu.
Mr Peter Obi said the ADC will form the bedrock of all politicians,who are desirous of making a new Nigeria,where governance will work.
He lamented that the act of governance in Nigeria has derailed seriously as such that those of them who feels so much concerned about the future of Nigeria are coming together to take the bull by it’s horn.
He advocated for a coalition of all politicians who are interested in the project of a new Nigeria to join the struggle on the platform of ADC.
Prominent politicians from the South East zone who came on board of the ADC bandwagon with Peter Obi at the event include some current senators at the National Assembly. The likes of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Sam.Egwu.
A former Chairman of Senate Committee on Communication,Senator Gill Nnaji’ and Senator Ben.Obi also identified with ADC.
A former Deputy Speaker,House of Representatives,Hon.Emeka Ihedioha,Hon.CSO Okereke,Hon Sunday Ogene and others equally joined ADC.
Dr Okwy Nwodo, a former Civilian Governor of Enugu state and ex Governor Achike Udenwa of Imo state, also identified with APC.
They all agreed to work harmoniously to deepen ADC as a grass root party in the South East zone in 2926..
A former Sokoto state Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Tambuwal, Aisha Yesufu,were among Politicians cum activists from other zones of Nigeria,who featured at the event.
Many of the speakers poured encomiums on Senator David Mark, the National Chaiman of ADC and My Ralph Uche, the founding Chairman of the party for their resilience and commitment for a better political plartform for Nigerians, commending the manifesto of ADC, as a way out of the nation’s current economic, political and leadership quagmire.
