The Kogi State Government has reiterated its dedication to the welfare of personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, veterans, and the families of fallen heroes as the state participated in the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day observed nationwide.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the assurance on Thursday during the commemoration ceremony held in Lokoja, noting that the event serves as a solemn reflection on the sacrifices of gallant men and women who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity.
Speaking through the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, the governor said the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day goes beyond mere ceremony, describing it as a sacred occasion dedicated to honouring soldiers who abandoned the safety of their homes to face an uncertain future in service to the country.
He reassured the families of fallen heroes of the state government’s unwavering support, emphasizing that their sacrifices would always be remembered and honoured.
Governor Ododo also commended the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his leadership and steadfast commitment to safeguarding national security.
In addition, he praised the Chief of Army Staff and other service chiefs for their strategic roles and sustained efforts in addressing insecurity across the nation.
