Kaduna receives flag to host 2026 NIPR week

From Maryam Ahmadu-Suka, Kaduna

The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), led by its President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, alongside members of the Local Organising Committee has formally presented the hosting flag to the governor of Kaduna state, Malam Uba Sani for the NIPR week slated for April.

Recieving the flag, governor Sani said, “The state’s selection as host of the 2026 NIPR week is both a mark of distinction and a call to thoughtful stewardship.

“The theme of the NIPR week, “Food Security: From Policy Papers to Public Plates – The Public Relations Imperatives,” captures a defining national priority and resonates strongly with our administration’s determination to confront poverty, unemployment, and insecurity through resilient and inclusive food systems.

“The council outlined a rich and intellectually purposeful programme, featuring the Institute’s Annual General Meeting, strategic media engagements, an executive roundtable on food security, fellowship inductions, capacity-building sessions, and guided project tours. With more than 2,000 participants expected from within Nigeria and beyond, the Week is poised to become a platform for rigorous ideas, informed dialogue, and collective national reflection.”

He added, “Kaduna state’s selection followed a rigorous assessment process and reflects recognition of our record in crisis management, peace restoration, inclusive infrastructure delivery, and sustained economic renewal.

“I reaffirmed Kaduna state’s readiness to host an event of the highest professional and organisational standard, while highlighting our strategic investments in agriculture and food security. These include the Special Agro-Processing Zone, the Africa Quality Assurance Centre, the $200 Million Mega Poultry Project, and our commitment of eleven percent of the 2026 State budget to agriculture. These efforts have been further strengthened by the steadfast support of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose administration has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to agricultural transformation.

“I am deeply honoured by my appointment as Patron of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and confident that the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week will set a new benchmark, delivering enduring value to participants, Kaduna State, and the nation at large.”

Highlights of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) between the governor and the NIPR President.
