Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerian Christians to use the Ash Wednesday period as a time of prayer and sober reflection, marking the beginning of the Lenten season.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio reminded Christians to remember their mortality and the need for humility and repentance as they dust themselves with ashes.
“As we dust ourselves with ashes, let us remember our mortality and the need for humility and repentance,” Akpabio said, adding that the season should be a time for introspection, forgiveness, and reconciliation, strengthening the bond between God and humanity.
Akpabio also promised that lawmakers would continue to make laws that promote unity, peace, and understanding among all Nigerians, saying “On our part as legislators, we will continue to make laws that would promote unity, peace, and understanding among all Nigerians.”
The Senate President extended warm greetings and blessings to Christians around the world, praying that God would bless and guide them on Ash Wednesday and throughout the Lenten season.
