From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau.

It could be recalled that even last year, the governor had vehemently refused to assist the people of the State with anything aimed at cushioning their difficulties as done in every State in the federation.

Investigation conducted by our correspondent in the State showed that the people, and particularly those who attained the age to perform one of the five pillars, are currently finding it difficult to get what to eat affluently as expected of anyone, the investigation also revealed.

According to the investigation, instead of the government to concentrate on the welfare of the people of the State it only embarked on the distributing food items to non-indigenes who were brought into the State by the governor, most of whom are either members of his family, classmates or colleagues at various banks he worked during his working career.

Coupled with an abject poverty bedevilling the State, many people were pushed, or rather compelled to resorting to house to house begging, while others are selling their properties all just to survive.

Many people who spoke to our correspondent with the regard to the challenges they face in this period, expressed their dismay over what some of them described as discrimination exhibited by the governor openly.

One of them who gave his name as Alhaji Dan Malan Bungudu, told our correspondent that he had never seen a poor leadership like the one he is witnessing in the State. Said he, “Of all the governors that ruled this State in the past, including Matawallen, were all sympathetic and caring. This is how we suffered even last year, because nothing was given to us as bona fide members of the State, instead, he only went ahead to making a sufficient provision of food stuffs to strangers who were not supposed to benefit from the corpers of our State”, he revealed.

Also speaking, Hajiya Dela, a food seller in Gusau, the State capital narrated to our correspondent that she regretted casting her vote for the incumbent governor, “we thought we made a good choice by electing him”, she emphasized.

Dela explained that many people including her, could have died because of him (Dauda) “but here we are, he even described the gesture he met his predicessors doing as extra vagance”.
