The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, has described the newly commissioned Ultra-Modern Newsroom as a strategic step toward strengthening transparency and institutional efficiency.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Ogunlana said the facility would enhance information management, improve documentation of legislative activities, and deepen public engagement.
“This newsroom is a strategic investment designed to strengthen information management, improve documentation of legislative activities, and enhance public engagement,” he said.
He added that the complex is being developed into a symbol of institutional strength and national pride.
“We are shaping it into a centre of pride and national significance and a destination that reflects the dignity and importance of democratic governance,” Ogunlana stated.
The Clerk also stressed the importance of staff welfare and capacity building, describing employees as the backbone of the institution.
“We must break the pattern of neglect and vandalism. I call on all staff to imbibe a strong culture of maintenance,” he urged.
Also speaking, Pharmacist Ali Umaru, Secretary of the Research and Information Directorate, described the newsroom as a major milestone for the legislature.
“It is not merely the unveiling of a physical structure but the unveiling of capacity and strategic communication,” Umaru said.
