Taraba state chairperson and wife of the state governor, Mrs. Agyin Kefas has been applauded by Taraba Women for establishment of family courts to enforce the child’s rights act and gender based violence.
This is also as they have promised to mobilize over one million women votes for president Bola Tinubu and governor Agbu Kefas ahead of the 2027 general election.
Taraba state commissioner for women affairs and child development, Mrs. Mary Sinjen disclosed this in Jalingo during the just concluded International Women’s Day Celebration.
According to her, “We do not need to look far to see leaders who have prioritized our welfare like president Tinubu and Governor Kefas who have been working tirelessly to secure our future.
“The president’s renewed hope for a social development agenda has delivered unprecedented results for women across nation” she stated.
Mrs. Sinjen applauded the governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas and his wife, Agyin for unique love and passion for Taraba women and gender based as well declaring free and compulsory basic education and upgrading of schools in the state.
She urged the women to ensure their PVCs are intact and get ready for door-to-door mobilization of women in the whole 16 local government areas of the state particularly to targeted places such as markets, worship centers (churches and mosques) and farms.
The commissioner further declared, “We must continue to strengthen policies that improve women’s access to education, healthcare, finance, and leadership platforms. We must encourage mentorship for young girls. We must invest in skill development and entrepreneurship. And we must promote civic awareness so that women understand their rights, responsibilities, and influence within our democratic framework.”
“Today’s gathering is more than a celebration, it is a declaration of commitment. A commitment to build systems that support women’s advancement. A commitment to collaborate between government, civil society, and the private sector. A commitment to ensure that no woman is left behind.”
“To the women here today, your voice matters. Your contributions are invaluable. Your leadership is essential to sustainable development in Taraba State and beyond.”
“As we mark this important day, may we leave not only inspired but organized, informed, and determined to create lasting change.”
“I commend the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development and the Office of the First Lady for convening this impactful event. May the outcomes of today’s celebration translate into real gains for women across all 16 Local Government Areas.”
Meanwhile, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has described women as the pillars of the society without whom there would be continued chaos and lack of order.
This is contained in a statement issued in Jalingo and signed by Hon. Emmanuel Bello SA Media and Digital Communication to the governor to mark the International Women’s Day 2026.
The governor said that women’s role in the society is grossly underrated and they are given less opportunities to showcase their potential in most cases.
“As we mark this historic day in celebration of our women, I want to tell every woman out there that you are all very special. If it were not for your presence, I think chaos would have been the order of the day.
“That is why my administration pays premium attention to the plight of women in the State at all levels. It is on record that this is the first time we have this number of women occupying key positions in government. It is deliberate. Today, we have more women in elective positions than we ever had in the history of our dear State,” the governor stated.
