The attacks, which occurred in the early hours of March 13, 2026, were launched by insurgents who reportedly advanced in large numbers in a desperate attempt to overrun the military locations but were met with fierce resistance from troops on ground.

The Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the attacks targeted troops’ positions in Sector 2 at Azir Bridge and Sector 1 at Banki.

According to him, vigilant troops demonstrated superior tactical awareness and combat readiness by launching well-coordinated spoiling attacks that disrupted the terrorists’ assault formations and threw them into disarray.

He added that the engagements were reinforced by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which played a significant role in repelling the attackers and restoring calm in the affected areas.

Uba also dismissed reports circulating on some online media platforms suggesting that the terrorists had overrun the locations, describing such claims as misleading propaganda.

He maintained that troops remain firmly in control of the locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with high morale and sustained offensive operations against terrorist elements.

The Joint Task Force reassured the public of its resolve to defeat terrorism across the North-East and restore lasting peace to the region.
