The Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Kaduna state, Dr. Rabi Salihu has assured that the employment and protection of women and girls in the state is a top priority of the Uba Sani-led government.
She noted that the state government firmly believes that when women are empowered, families thrive, communities prosper, and the entire state experiences sustainable development.
Speaking at the Queen Amina College, Kaduna to commemorate the International Women’s Day held in collaboration with the Strengthening Peace and Reconciliation Project SPRiNG UK International and Tetra Tech, the commissioner said the theme “Give to Gain” speaks directly to the philosophy guiding and in line with the states priorities in governance, policies and programmes.
It further calls on Government, Communities, Private Sector Organizations, Development Partners, and individuals to invest in women and girls.
According to her, “In Kaduna State, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani (CON), the empowerment and protection of women and girls remain a top priority.
“The Kaduna State Government firmly believes that when women are empowered, families thrive, communities prosper, and the entire state experiences sustainable development.
When we give opportunities, education, resources, and protection to women, we gain stronger families, healthier communities, and a more prosperous economy.
She maintained that the state government remains committed to ensuring that every girl has free access to quality education and opportunities for their personal growth and development such as the AGILE and Second Chance Educational reforms.
In his remarks, State Representative for SPRiNG, Mr. Barau Emmanuel assured that the organisation will continue to collaborate with the state government and other key stakeholders to ensure peace and reconciliation is strengthened in the state.
Earlier, the Principal of Queen Amina College, Zainab Muhammad disclosed that the school was an all girls school with over 3,000 students who she described as potential women leaders in the making.
She appealed to the government and other organisations to invest in the future of the girls by providing them with entrepreneurial and other skills in order for them to contribute their quota to the development of the country.
