Kebbi embarks on massive refuse evacuation refuse, clears drainages

Kebbi State Government has reinvigorated its Urban Development Agency, KUDA, for massive, effective evacuation of refuse and drainages with the onset of the rainy season.

At a Ministerial Press Briefing, in Birnin Kebbi, this Monday, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hayatudden Ahmad Bawa, said trucks and pay loaders of the Agency have been refurbished for optimal operation.

“Priority areas identified, include, upgrading of township roads, installation of solar-powered street lights, expansion of single-lane roads, clearing of drainages to ease flow of water to address recurring flooding”,

“To ensure consistent clean environment, sanitation of major roads in the state capital is in progress”,

“More than three thousand double-arm solar street lighting system has been installed in various locations in Birnin Kebbi, and other parts of the state”,

“Other areas enjoying solar street lights are Zuru, Augie, Bunza, Yauri, Argungu and Koko-Besse”,

“About N2.4 billion was expended on the supply and installation of more than three thousand street lights in these locations”, Bawa said.
