Kaduna — Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his commitment to reforming and strengthening security institutions, declaring that effective correctional services remain a vital part of building a safer and more peaceful society.
The Governor made the position known through his Chief of Staff, Sani Liman Kila, who represented him at the Kaduna State Correctional Service “Annual Correctional Leadership Building Award and Training Programme.’
The event brought together correctional officers, security stakeholders, and government officials to discuss leadership, professionalism, and the future of correctional services in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, Kila stressed that correctional centres should not be seen merely as places where offenders are kept behind bars, but as institutions dedicated to reforming lives, rebuilding character, and giving individuals a second chance to become productive members of society.
He noted that the Kaduna State Government places high importance on institutions that promote justice, discipline, accountability, and public safety, adding that sustainable security can only be achieved when citizens are given opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration.
According to him, Governor Uba Sani’s administration remains committed to supporting reforms that strengthen security institutions and improve service delivery across the state.
“The correctional service performs a critical responsibility in our society. Beyond custody, it helps to transform lives, restore hope, and prepare individuals to return to society as better citizens. This is why government must continue to support initiatives that improve leadership, professionalism, and institutional capacity within the service,” he said.
Observers at the event described the Governor’s participation through his representative as another demonstration of his administration’s determination to build strong institutions and invest in human development.
Many participants also commended the Kaduna State Correctional Service for organizing the annual programme, noting that leadership training remains essential in a rapidly changing security environment.
The event featured discussions on leadership, ethics, discipline, and modern correctional practices aimed at improving the effectiveness of officers and enhancing public confidence in the correctional system.
Governor Uba Sani’s administration has consistently emphasized people-centered governance, institutional reforms, and investments in sectors that contribute to security and social stability. Stakeholders believe that continued support for correctional services will not only improve rehabilitation outcomes but also help reduce crime and strengthen community safety.
As the programme came to a close, participants were urged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service, while remaining committed to the core mission of correcting, reforming, and transforming lives.
For many attendees, the message was clear: a safer society is built not only by punishing wrongdoing, but by creating pathways for redemption, responsibility, and positive change.
