Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded another breakthrough in the fight against terrorism after killing three suspected terrorists during an operation in Zamfara State.
The successful operation was carried out by troops of Sector 2 in the early hours of Thursday during a fighting patrol across Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of the state.
The Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed that the troops came under attack from armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, triggering a fierce gun battle.
He said the troops responded with superior firepower, overpowering the terrorists and forcing the surviving members of the group to flee with gunshot wounds.
Danja stated that three terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines and 571 rounds of ammunition.
He added that the operation was executed without any casualty on the side of the troops.
The military described the latest operational success as a demonstration of the determination and professionalism of troops committed to tackling terrorism and banditry across the North West.
It also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely intelligence to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Zamfara State and neighbouring communities.
