Why I rejected consensus deal in Taraba APC — Bodejo

From Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo

National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore socio-cultural association and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Taraba Central, Bello Bodejo, has said he would not be part of any consensus arrangement being promoted within the Taraba State chapter of the party.

Bodejo stated that he did not purchase the APC nomination and expression of interest forms only to step down for another aspirant.

According to him, he would rather participate in the party primaries and lose through a transparent process than withdraw his ambition in favour of another contender.

Speaking with journalists shortly after obtaining the party’s nomination form to contest alongside other aspirants in the Taraba Central Senatorial District, Bodejo expressed confidence in his popularity across the zone and declared his readiness for direct primaries.

He explained that purchasing the form was in line with the tradition of the party and also demonstrated his respect for the APC leadership as a loyal member who had formally joined the race.

The APC aspirant maintained that he remained fully committed to the contest and would not succumb to pressure from any quarter to abandon his ambition.

“I am in this race to win, and nobody is going to force me to step down,” he declared.

Bodejo further disclosed that the consensus committee reportedly constituted by Governor Agbu Kefas to interface with aspirants across the state’s three senatorial districts had yet to reach out to him.

“The consensus committee set up by the governor has not contacted me, and let me make it clear that I will not step down for anybody, no matter the pressure,” Bodejo said.
