The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has announced that applications are now open for the sixth cohort of its flagship AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP).
The six-month executive education programme is to be delivered by the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, and aimed at equipping high-potential public sector leaders across Africa with the skills, networks and strategic perspective needed to drive sustainable reform within public institutions.
According to the Foundation, applications are open to eligible public servants from English-speaking African countries. The deadline for submission is Sunday, April 12, 2026, while the programme is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
Since launching in 2021, the AIG PLP has established a strong record of impact. Alumni of the programme have collectively developed and implemented more than 230 reform initiatives across ministries, departments and agencies on the continent.
Findings from an impact survey show that 62% of past participants have either secured promotions or taken on broader leadership responsibilities after completing the programme, underscoring its influence on career progression and institutional leadership.
“Across Africa, the complexity of public sector challenges demands more than good intentions. It requires reformers who understand systems, can navigate institutional realities, and are equipped to implement sustainable change.
The AIG PLP is designed to meet this need,” said Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.
Highlighting one of the programme’s outcomes, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Lagos State DSVA and an alumna of the PLP, introduced a secure self-reporting platform that enables survivors of domestic and sexual abuse to safely record incidents and preserve evidence. The tool allows survivors to access support services while ensuring that vital evidence is safeguarded until justice is pursued.
“This is one of over 230 impactful reform projects being implemented across sectors as diverse as healthcare, finance, agriculture, and education. We are seeing proof every day that investing in the capacity and leadership potential of people, delivers the kind of transformation that policy alone cannot achieve.”
The AIG PLP adopts a blended learning model, combining virtual coursework with an intensive residential module. Selected participants attend at no cost, as the Foundation covers all programme-related expenses, including accommodation and feeding during the residential component.
Participants benefit from direct engagement with leading faculty from the University of Oxford and are equipped to address critical public sector issues, including negotiating in the public interest.
The programme also focuses on: Strengthening public organisations and upholding integrity in public life.
The curriculum concludes with a capstone reform project, enabling participants to apply newly acquired knowledge to practical challenges within their respective institutions, ensuring measurable and actionable outcomes.
Prospective applicants are advised to submit their applications early. Additional information on eligibility and the application process is available on the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation website.
