Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has disclosed that his administration inherited numerous challenges across key sectors when it assumed office in 2023.
The governor made the disclosure during a statewide broadcast to commemorate his third anniversary in office, noting that although the challenges were enormous, they were not insurmountable.
According to Kefas, his administration has, over the past three years, faced several obstacles, taken difficult decisions and experienced moments that tested the collective strength of the people of the state.
He said unity, patience and shared sacrifice among citizens have continued to drive the steady progress recorded by the government.
The governor explained that upon assuming office, his administration inherited serious challenges in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and the economy, among other pressing issues.
He stated that rather than complain or engage in a blame game, his administration chose the path of action aimed at moving the state forward.
Kefas said his government has prioritised critical sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, livestock and economic development, infrastructure and road construction, as well as transportation reform.
Other areas receiving attention, he noted, include energy development, environmental management, solid minerals development, digital governance, civil service welfare, employment and public service reforms, revenue generation, tourism development, youth empowerment and sports, judicial reforms and special development areas.
The governor further revealed that the government had taken deliberate and responsible steps to address the inherited challenges through dialogue, reforms, infrastructural interventions and improved stakeholder engagement.
“Today efforts are ongoing to strengthen academic stability, improve learning conditions, expand institution development and restore confidence in the system,” he said.
Kefas expressed appreciation to the people of Taraba State for the support they have given his administration throughout the journey so far.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing to the next phase of development, which he said would focus on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening institutions, tackling insecurity, improving service delivery and enhancing the quality of life of all citizens.
