President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country has emerged from difficult economic times, declaring that “the walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here.”
The President gave the assurance in his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims across Nigeria and the world, where he called for sacrifice, unity, compassion and continued prayers for the nation.
In the statement released by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, President Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges faced by citizens but maintained that the reforms introduced by his administration over the past three years were already yielding positive results.
“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal. The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations,” he stated.
According to him, the sacrifices made by Nigerians and government had stabilised the economy and improved the country’s attractiveness to investors, thereby boosting prospects for job creation and economic growth.
Tinubu also expressed optimism that ongoing reforms would continue to improve security and create more opportunities for citizens across the country.
The President said although terrorists and bandits still attack some communities despite intensified operations by security agencies, his administration remained determined to defeat criminal elements.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
The President referenced the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader as evidence of progress being made by security and intelligence agencies in the fight against terrorism.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria where citizens could live without fear and pursue their aspirations freely.
“We will continue to invest in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital to fulfil the great promise of our great nation,” the President stressed.
Tinubu congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Festival of Sacrifice and urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of faith, obedience and selflessness as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
“I extend warm felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and worldwide as they celebrate the glorious Eid-el-Kabir, the Festival of Sacrifice,” the President said.
He noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolises devotion to God and compassion towards humanity, stressing that Nigerians must continue to show mercy and understanding irrespective of ethnic, religious or social differences.
Tinubu further urged Muslims to use the Eid celebration to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders, while encouraging Nigerians to support the less privileged and strengthen bonds of brotherhood.
He wished Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed that Allah would accept the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful.
