Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has reaffirmed his commitment to economic empowerment in Kano North, announcing a monthly N100,000 startup capital for 1,300 petty traders and other beneficiaries in the senatorial district.
Senator Barau disclosed this recently in Abuja during a meeting with two delegations from Dambatta Local Government Area who visited the National Assembly to commend his interventions.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the delegations included ward representatives from across Dambatta led by former lawmaker Hon. Hafiz Sani Maidaji, and another led by Alhaji Abdullahi Dan Bayero, Barau’s Senior Legislative Aide in the LGA.
The groups applauded the Senator for various projects and support programmes being implemented in Kano North, which they said have directly impacted livelihoods.
Beyond the monthly grants, the statement noted that beneficiaries have also received fertilisers, water pumps, grinding machines, sewing machines, motorcycles, and refrigerators under Barau’s constituency programmes.
Addressing the delegations, Barau said his focus remains on ensuring economic independence for households in Kano North through sustained support in agriculture, education, infrastructure, and small businesses.
He urged the people to maintain unity and to continue backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“With unity, loyalty, and collective commitment, we can achieve a more prosperous Kano North and a stronger Nigeria,” Senator Barau said, stressing that the goal is for “every household in Kano North to have something meaningful to do.”
