Ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the immediate opening of all accessible sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road to ease movement for commuters traveling during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

In a press statement issued by his office, the directive was given to the contractor handling the road project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, as part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion and ensure safer travel along the busy highway corridor.

The Minister said the measure became necessary due to the expected increase in vehicular movement during the festive period, stressing the need to provide smoother and more convenient journeys for motorists and other road users.

Umahi also disclosed that an earlier accident recorded along the highway had been completely cleared, assuring travelers that normal movement had been restored on the affected section of the road.

According to the statement, security agencies have been strategically deployed along the route to maintain law and order as well as guarantee the safety of commuters throughout the Eid celebrations.

The Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road remains one of the country’s major transport corridors, linking the Federal Capital Territory with several northern states and serving as a key route for commercial and passenger transportation.

The Federal Government reiterated its commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country while also ensuring the safety and comfort of Nigerians during major festive periods.
