The Izzi clan of Ebonyi State has unanimously endorsed Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was made during a rally held at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, where political leaders, traditional rulers, elected representatives, youth and women groups, as well as supporters from across the state, gathered to express support for the governor’s re-election bid.
Representing Governor Nwifuru at the event, the Deputy Governor, Patricia Obila, said the endorsement was a reflection of the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development, education, empowerment programmes, human capital development and other sectors of the state’s economy.
She noted that the administration had remained committed to improving the welfare of the people and delivering sustainable development across the state.
Chairman of the occasion and Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Matthias Adum, said the endorsement followed a careful assessment of Nwifuru’s performance since assuming office.
According to him, the numerous ongoing and completed projects across Ebonyi State had earned the governor the confidence and support of the people.
The motion endorsing Nwifuru for a second term was moved by the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and seconded by the member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru.
Following a voice vote conducted by Adum, the endorsement received overwhelming support from participants, with no dissenting voice.
Adum subsequently declared the motion carried and announced Governor Nwifuru as the sole candidate of the Izzi clan for the 2027 governorship election.
Accepting the endorsement on behalf of the governor, Obila expressed appreciation to the people for their confidence in the administration and pledged that the government would continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
She highlighted the administration’s achievements in key sectors and urged residents to sustain their support to enable the governor consolidate on ongoing projects and programmes.
The Deputy Governor also conveyed Governor Nwifuru’s gratitude to the people of Izzi and the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum for organising the rally.
She assured them of the administration’s commitment to implementing more people-oriented projects and improving the living standards of residents across the state.
