A prominent stakeholder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prince Ogueke Nwafor-Orizu, has resigned his membership of the party.
Prince Nwafor-Orizu, a grassroots politician, youth advocate, community leader and businessman, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the Chairman of APGA, Otolo-Nnewi Ward 1.
In the letter, which was made available to journalists, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve and contribute to its growth over the years.
He commended APGA for providing him with a platform through which he was able to make meaningful contributions in various capacities during his time in the party.
According to him, his decision to leave APGA was informed by personal reasons as well as a change in his political views and interests.
Despite his exit, Prince Nwafor-Orizu said he remains appreciative of the experience and relationships he gained while in the party.
His resignation comes amid a wave of defections by notable political figures in Nnewi.
Recently, former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwudi Orizu, and former President-General of Uruagu-Nnewi, Chief Charles Nwonye, also resigned from APGA.
The two political figures have since joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), further fueling political realignments ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
