The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the successful upload of the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal, describing the development as another milestone in its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Recall that the party had two factions laying claim to it’s leadership. While the group led by Mohammed is recognised by the Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and in possession of INEC access code, the other group led by Tanimu Turaki was product of he Ibadan National Convention that was described as nulity by he Supreme Court. The group is contesting the courts decision and formed it’s Interim National Working Committee (INEC), hoping that the court will upturn it’s earlier decision.
The party’s National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, in a statement issued on Sunday, said hay the successful upload demonstrates the PDP’s commitment to ensuring its full participation in the 2027 polls.
Mohammed said the successful submission of the candidates’ details reflects the party’s resolve to fulfil its promise to members and Nigerians that it would actively contest the forthcoming general elections.
He noted that the party is awaiting the completion of the upload of the names of its governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates to the INEC portal.
The PDP chairman congratulated party members across Nigeria and in the diaspora on what he described as another significant achievement in the party’s electoral preparations.
According to him, the PDP remains committed to building a stronger and more united party while working towards providing better leadership for the country.
