A group, Team Gbaja, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging Nigerians in the North Central Zone to sustain peaceful civic engagement while highlighting what it described as major achievements of the current administration.
Speaking during the Team Gbaja Sensitisation and Mobilisation Rally for the North Central Zone held on July 31, National Spokesperson, Tabuko Kennedy, said the group remained committed to democracy, national unity and the continued progress of the country.
He also expressed the group’s support for the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, describing his public service record as a source of inspiration to many Nigerians.
According to Kennedy, the Tinubu administration should be assessed based on its performance and tangible outcomes rather than political opinions.
“Leadership should be judged by measurable actions and visible results. While opinions may differ, there are several developments that supporters of this administration point to as signs of progress,” he said.
Among the achievements highlighted by the group was the successful rescue of abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State through what it described as a coordinated multi-agency security operation carried out without the payment of ransom.
The spokesperson also cited the commencement of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, describing it as one of Nigeria’s biggest infrastructure initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity, commerce and economic development.
He further listed the implementation of the Student Loan Scheme, increased investment in federal road infrastructure across the six geopolitical zones, reforms in the oil and gas sector that have expanded local refining capacity, and ongoing efforts to improve national security through enhanced collaboration among the Armed Forces, the Police and intelligence agencies.
Kennedy added that the administration’s economic reforms, agricultural initiatives, investment drive, digital innovation programmes and social intervention policies were creating more opportunities for Nigerians.
“These are some of the reasons why many Nigerians believe the Renewed Hope Agenda deserves continued support,” he stated.
He stressed that the rally was organised as a peaceful demonstration of citizens’ constitutional rights and not as a platform for political attacks.
“My brothers and sisters, our gathering today is peaceful. We are not here to insult anyone. We are not here to threaten anyone. We are here to demonstrate our constitutional right to freedom of expression and association,” Kennedy said.
He urged supporters of Team Gbaja to remain disciplined and law-abiding throughout their political activities.
“As ambassadors of Team Gbaja, let us remain disciplined, respectful, and law abiding throughout this rally. Let our conduct reflect maturity. Let our words promote unity. Let our actions strengthen democracy,” he said.
Calling on members to continue grassroots mobilisation after the rally, Kennedy encouraged them to promote voter participation, civic engagement and constructive dialogue in their respective communities.
“As you return to your various communities, continue to mobilise peacefully. Encourage voter participation, civic engagement, and constructive dialogue. Let us continue to work for a Nigeria that is peaceful, united, secure, and prosperous,” he added.
He also called for national unity, saying, “Together, we can build a stronger nation. Together, we can keep hope alive. Together, we can move Nigeria forward.”
