The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his appointment as Secretary I of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
The Minister described the appointment as a demonstration of confidence in his capacity and commitment to national service, assuring party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the country of his readiness to discharge the responsibilities of the office with diligence, discipline, and strategic focus toward securing victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, General Musa said the assignment represents a call to higher service and pledged to contribute effectively to the success of the party while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and dedication.
The Defence Minister, however, stressed that his constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring the security of lives and property remains paramount and non-negotiable.
According to him, ongoing military operations, defence sector reforms, and inter-agency security collaborations across the country will continue with renewed vigour, despite his additional political responsibility.
“National security remains our highest imperative. Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” he stated.
General Musa called on APC members and Nigerians to remain united in support of the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that the ruling party would record electoral success in 2027 while sustaining progress in governance, security, and national development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ensuring that the nation continues on the path of peace, stability, and prosperity.
